A stainless microwave hood combination mounted under white shaker wall cabinets in a US kitchen, the microwave's side-hinged door closed with its dark mesh window, a plain glass bowl visible faintly on the glass turntable inside the microwave, the lamp on its underside glowing softly onto a cooking surface that is cropped and out of focus at the bottom edge.

Fisher & Paykel microwaves,
specifically.

Fisher & Paykel covers every installed form of microwave in the US: a 30-inch hood combination, a 24-inch compact model that stands on the counter or builds into a trim kit, a 24-inch microwave drawer and a long run of 24- and 30-inch convection speed ovens. The newer speed ovens flag overheating as A1 or A5 and deeper trouble as an F code, while the simpler models speak in words such as LOCK, ERROR and DEMO ON.

The Fisher & Paykel lineup

What is particular
to Fisher & Paykel.

We service Series 5 hood combinations (MOH30SB1 and the earlier CMOH-30SS convection model), the MO-24SS and CMO-24SS compact microwaves, the Series 7 OMD24SPX1 and OMD24SDB1 drawers, and Series 7, 9 and 11 convection speed ovens in 24 and 30 inches. On the hood combination the model and serial numbers sit at the bottom left of the cavity face; please have them ready when you book.

Drawer that opens on a touch

The OMD24SPX1 and OMD24SDB1 drawers have no handle: a touch opens and closes them, and Key Lock can hold the drawer shut as well as the keypad. When a drawer will not move we rule out the lock first, then look at the guides, the drive and its switches.

Two overheat alerts on the speed ovens

The Series 7 and 9 speed ovens separate a hot cavity (A1) from a hot microwave system (A5), and their cooling fans keep running after the oven is off by design. A repeat of either alert sends us to the cooling path and the fans before the magnetron.

A compact model with two homes

The MO-24SS can sit on a counter with 2 inches of air on the sides, top and back, or go into a 30-inch trim kit. A unit that stops or runs hot after being boxed into a cabinet without the kit is checked for trapped air first.

Fan and filters on the hood model

The MOH30SB1 pairs a 1000-watt microwave with a 300 CFM extraction fan, washable exhaust filters meant for monthly cleaning and a charcoal filter for recirculating installs. A weak draw is often a clogged filter before it is a motor.

Parts

Fisher & Paykel sells microwave spare parts through its own US site, down to the glass turntable tray, and every part is matched to model and serial number. Boards, drawer drives and magnetrons are model-specific, so we confirm the number before ordering.

Repair or replace

A speed oven or a drawer is sized to its cabinet opening, so a sound cavity and door usually make repair the better choice. On a small compact model with both a failed magnetron and a worn door, replacement deserves a fair comparison.

Questions about
Fisher & Paykel microwaves.

Why does my Fisher & Paykel microwave drawer not open?
Start with Key Lock, which locks the drawer as well as the keypad; a three-second hold on STOP/CLEAR releases it. If the drawer still does not move, the drive or its switches need testing on a visit.
Why do the fans keep running after my Fisher & Paykel speed oven is off?
Fisher & Paykel runs the cooling fans on purpose until the electronics have cooled. It only becomes a concern if they run for hours or make a grinding noise.
Can a Fisher & Paykel compact microwave go on the counter?
Yes. The MO-24SS guide gives a counter location with 2 inches of clearance on the sides, top and back, and the 30-inch trim kit is sold separately for a built-in look.
How often should I clean the filters on a Fisher & Paykel hood microwave?
The MOH30SB1 guide asks for the exhaust filters to come out and be cleaned about once a month. The charcoal filter is used only when the fan recirculates instead of venting outside.
Why does my Fisher & Paykel speed oven stop heating when I open the door?
That is how it is designed: the heating turns off while the door is open. If it will not start again with the door closed firmly, book a visit to test the door switches.
