What is particular

We service the RVMH330 and RVMHC330 3 Series and VMOR506 5 Series hood combinations, the VMOC506, VMOS501 and RVM320 built-in or counter models, the VMDD5306 drop-down door convection/speed model, the MVMSP6301 combi-speed oven and the VMOD5240 and VMODC5240 DrawerMicro drawers. The series and model on the rating label decide which manual and which parts apply.

A two-step door on the convection model

Once a cycle has started, the VMOC506 needs DOOR touched on the keypad before the push button will open it, and the door re-locks after about ten seconds. Owners who miss that step think the latch has jammed, and the feature can be switched off in the Help settings.

Counter or cabinet, the same unit

Viking's spec sheets for the VMOS501 and RVM320 say they can sit on a countertop or go into a cabinet with an optional trim kit. A unit moved from counter to cabinet is checked for the air gaps the trim kit is designed to keep.

Hood models ship set to recirculate

The VMOR506 convection hood combination moves 300 CFM and leaves the factory set up to recirculate through a charcoal filter, with rear or vertical ducting as options. Weak venting is often a clogged or missing filter, or a unit ducted outside that still carries its recirculating parts.

A drawer that can bake

The VMODC5240 DrawerMicro adds convection, so it bakes and roasts as well as heating by microwave, with each mode capped at its own maximum time. A convection drawer that will not reach temperature is checked for its element and fan as well as its magnetron.

Parts

Viking's spec sheets list a limited 5-year coverage on the magnetron tube, so the purchase date matters when that part fails. Charcoal filters for the hood combinations are a stocked accessory (CFOR1 for the VMOR506), while drawer drives and control panels are ordered by model and serial number.

Repair or replace

Drawer and drop-down door models fill a cutout that a replacement has to match, so they usually justify repair. A counter model with more than one major part failing at once is the Viking unit where replacement is most often worth pricing out.

Why won't the door open on my Viking convection microwave during cooking?
The VMOC506 uses a two-step release: touch DOOR on the keypad, then press the push button within about ten seconds. If that fails too, the latch or its switch needs a visit.
My Viking microwave hood combination barely clears smoke. What should I look at?
Units shipped to recirculate depend on a clean charcoal filter and clean grease filters. If the filters are fine and the fan still sounds weak, book a visit for the fan motor and ducting.
Can a Viking DrawerMicro be pushed closed by hand?
Viking locks the automatic drawer mechanism with Control Lock during cleaning, which tells you the drawer is driven, not manual. Use the panel to move it and book a visit if it will not travel.
Is the Viking combi-speed oven a microwave?
It combines microwave power with convection in a 30-inch built-in, so we treat it as a built-in microwave for repairs involving the microwave side.
