SKS microwaves,
specifically.

Signature Kitchen Suite, now shortened to SKS and owned by LG Electronics, sells one microwave of each kind we service: the UPMC3084ST convection hood combination, the SKSLV3001S and SKSLV3011MT 30-inch built-in microwave speed ovens, the SKSMD2401S 24-inch drawer and the SKSMC2411S countertop model. The speed ovens are the only SKS microwaves that print numbered F codes.

The SKS lineup

What is particular
to SKS.

We service the SKSLV3001S professional and SKSLV3011MT transitional speed ovens, the SKSMD2401S microwave drawer, the UPMC3084ST microwave hood combination and the SKSMC2411S countertop microwave. The speed ovens share one manual layout and code table; the other three each show their own messages.

A speed oven with a printed code table

The SKSLV speed ovens list seven F codes, from F1 and F2 for one thermistor to F14 for the humidity sensor and F3 for a shorted key. Owners can read the code to us before the visit, which lets the technician bring the likely part.

A drawer that opens itself

The SKSMD2401S uses an Easy Touch automatic drawer that opens with a light pull or a button and closes with a nudge. A drawer that stalls or bounces back is checked for obstruction and for the drive before the controls.

A countertop model with a two-step door

The SKSMC2411S offers a child-resistant 2-step opening and an optional 30-inch trim kit for cabinet or over-oven installs. A door that seems stuck is often the 2-step latch doing its job.

A hood combination with five fan speeds

The UPMC3084ST moves up to 300 CFM through five fan levels and uses grease filters and a charcoal filter. Weak venting is checked at the filters and ducting before the fan motor.

Parts

Parts are ordered by model and serial number. SKS spec sheets list a 10-year limited coverage on the magnetron for the drawer, and the hood combination's coverage names the inverter magnetron separately, so the purchase date is worth having ready when that part is suspected.

Repair or replace

The speed ovens and the drawer sit in fitted openings and are nearly always repaired. A countertop unit with several failed parts is the one SKS microwave where replacement deserves a real comparison.

Questions about
SKS microwaves.

My SKS speed oven beeps and shows an F code. What should I do first?
Press CLEAR/OFF, write the code down and try the cooking function again. If the same code returns, turn the unit off and book a visit with the code in hand.
Is SKS the same brand as Signature Kitchen Suite?
Yes. SKS is the newer name for Signature Kitchen Suite, and both belong to LG Electronics. Older units carry the long name on the manual and label.
Why won't my SKS microwave drawer heat, even though it opens and lights up?
The drawer's manual says it does not heat in Demo Mode, so check that first. If demo is off and it still stays cold, book a visit.
Does SKS sell a countertop microwave that can be built in?
The SKSMC2411S sits on a counter and takes an optional 30-inch trim kit for a cabinet or over-oven install.
