What F6
actually means.

The code table lists F6 with the cause "Oven hot". The control has read a temperature above what it allows and stops so the cavity and the cabinet around it do not overheat.

What to do when F6 shows on the microwave

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from SKS's own guidance for F6 on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Press CLEAR/OFF and leave the door closed while the unit cools on its own.

02

Check that nothing blocks the vent openings around the speed oven, especially in a flush installation.

03

If there is smoke or a burning smell, keep the door shut and turn the unit off at the breaker.

04

If F6 returns on an ordinary cycle once the unit is cold, book a visit so the cooling fan and sensors can be checked.

Still there?

It usually turns into microwave control board and touchpad repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

F6 is not a sensor that has come apart, which SKS reports as F1, F2, F12 or F13. Steam leaving the vent during cooking is normal on this model and does not by itself produce F6.

What you may
notice with it.

The microwave problems F6 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the microwave before anyone is booked.

Questions
about F6.

Can I clear F6 myself?
Press CLEAR/OFF and leave the door closed while the unit cools on its own. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my SKS speed oven show F6 after a long air fry session?
Air fry and convection run the cavity at high heat, and a unit with poor air flow around it can reach its limit. Let it cool and check the openings; repeated F6 on short cycles points at the cooling side.
Is it safe to open the door when my SKS speed oven shows F6?
If there is no smoke, opening it after it cools is fine. If you see smoke or flame, keep the door closed and cut power at the breaker.
Can a flush installation cause F6 on an SKS speed oven?
Only if the cutout or cabinet does not follow the installation instructions and traps heat. A technician can compare the opening with SKS's installation drawings.

Still showing F6?

Three details make the booking useful: the characters or beeps just as they appeared, every character of the model number, and whether a cup of water still warms up. With those, the technician arrives already halfway to the answer.
