What the form asks,
and why.
Your notes are read before the van leaves, which raises the odds that the switch, fuse or diode your microwave needs is already on board. Sending it commits you to nothing, and a price is only ever given after the diagnosis.
Have the model number to hand if you can find it: where the model plate is covers the usual places.
Rather talk? (844) 393-5858Step oneThe microwave and what it does
Hood combination, built-in or speed, drawer or countertop, the make, and whether it runs without heating, sparks, stops mid-cycle, ignores the keypad, will not latch or turn the plate, or has a fan or lamp that quit. That tells us who to send and which door switches, fuses and diodes to pack.
Step twoThe day that works
A morning or an afternoon slot, on whichever day sits best with school runs, dinners and work.
Step threeGetting to it
Whether it hangs over the cooking surface, sits in a tall cabinet, slides out of an island or stands on the counter, plus a phone number for the day itself. Owner or tenant, a gate code, parking, a cat that slips out the door: all of it helps.
After you book,
the visit.
The three steps above are the booking. These four are what happens once a technician is in your kitchen.
What repairs costA cup of water, timed
A measured cup of water runs for a set time and its rise in warmth is read; then the door switches, the plate, the fan and the keypad are tried one after another, with the outer cabinet opened only by the technician and only once the stored charge has been drained.
The price before the work
You hear what failed and what the repair comes to in one conversation, then decide. When a new microwave is the wiser spend, the technician says so plainly.
Usual parts on board
The van tends to carry door switches, fuses, thermal cutouts, diodes, lamps, filters and turntable motors. A magnetron, a control board, a door assembly or a drawer motor is made for one model and gets ordered; if the model number arrives with the booking, that order can be placed ahead of the visit.
Heating again before we leave
Once the part is in, the cabinet is closed, the water test is run again, the door is checked for leakage along its edges, and you get the microwave back in working order.
Before the
technician arrives.
Three things that make the first visit the only one.
What a code meansLeave it off if it sparked or smoked
After sparks, smoke, a burning smell or a door that stopped sealing, do not try it again to see whether it still happens. Switch the breaker off if the plug is out of reach and use the oven or the kettle until we have been.
Note the screen
Characters, a beep pattern, a blinking lock symbol: whatever shows, write it down or photograph it. A code with no brand beside it is only half the story.
Clear the space around it
Take the pots off the cooking surface below a hood combination, empty the drawer, and clear the counter so the technician can reach it and lift it if needed. Think back to when it began: a storm outage, a foil-wrapped plate, a spill that boiled over, a slammed door.
