A built-in microwave in a kitchen cabinet stopped halfway through a cycle, a covered glass dish of vegetables inside behind the mesh window and a faint wisp of steam on the glass.

What F13
actually means.

F13 is the shorted reading from the same sensor that gives F12 when it reads open. The control treats a shorted sensor as untrustworthy and stops heating until the code is cleared.

What to do when F13 shows on the microwave

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from SKS's own guidance for F13 on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Press CLEAR/OFF to silence the unit and clear F13.

02

Let the cavity cool fully and try again with one function.

03

If F13 repeats, switch the unit off at the breaker and book a visit to test the sensor and its connection.

Still there?

It usually turns into microwave control board and touchpad repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

F13 is not an overheating warning, which appears as F6. It also says nothing about the turntable or the door; it is about one temperature reading.

What you may
notice with it.

The microwave problems F13 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the microwave before anyone is booked.

Questions
about F13.

Can I clear F13 myself?
Press CLEAR/OFF to silence the unit and clear F13. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Is F13 on an SKS speed oven worse than F12?
Neither is more serious for you as the owner. Both mean the same sensor needs testing; only the kind of bad reading differs.
Can I bake in my SKS speed oven if F13 clears after a reset?
If it clears and stays away, the unit can be used. Keep a note of when it appeared, because a code that comes and goes is easier to trace with that history.
Will replacing the sensor on my SKS speed oven mean pulling it out of the cabinet?
Usually the unit has to come forward out of its opening for the technician to reach the sensor, which is why this is a visit and not a self-repair.

Still showing F13?

Three details make the booking useful: the characters or beeps just as they appeared, every character of the model number, and whether a cup of water still warms up. With those, the technician arrives already halfway to the answer.
