What is particular
to Gaggenau.

We service the Gaggenau Expressive series combi-microwave ovens GM450720, GM451720, GM480720 and GM481720, and the earlier BMP 250/251 combi-microwaves. The rating plate is on the door frame near the lower hinge.

Hardwired, never plugged

The GM450/451 is hardwired to a 120/208–240-volt four-wire supply on a 20-amp double-pole breaker. A combi-microwave that is dark after an electrical job gets its supply checked before its electronics.

A door with no handle

The full-glass, handleless door opens electronically, has an electronic lock and swings to the side; the hinge side is fixed and cannot be reversed. A door that will not release is a door-drive diagnosis, not a stuck latch to pry.

Inverter microwave, oven-style heat

Gaggenau's Innowave inverter keeps microwave output even, and the cavity also bakes by convection from 86°F to 445°F or broils with circulated air. That mix means an uneven result can sit in either the microwave or the oven side.

It switches off after 12 idle hours

If nothing is touched for more than 12 hours, the Expressive series ends its program by itself as a safety measure. Long dehydrating runs that stop overnight are usually this, not a failure.

Parts

Gaggenau states that function-relevant spare parts are available from its customer service for up to 15 years after a model is placed on the market. Door drive and display parts are specific to the hinge side and width.

Repair or replace

A Gaggenau combi-microwave is built into a planned cabinet run, often stacked with other Gaggenau units, so repair is the normal answer. Replacement comes up mainly when a discontinued model's part is no longer offered.

No. Gaggenau builds left-hinged and right-hinged versions and says the hinge is not reversible, so the side is chosen when it is ordered.
Why won't my Gaggenau heat although the display works?
