A stainless microwave hood combination mounted under white shaker wall cabinets in a US kitchen, the microwave's side-hinged door closed with its dark mesh window, a plain glass bowl visible faintly on the glass turntable inside the microwave, the lamp on its underside glowing softly onto a cooking surface that is cropped and out of focus at the bottom edge.

Dacor microwaves,
specifically.

Dacor's US microwaves cover all four shapes we service: a 24- and 30-inch Microwave-In-A-Drawer, the PCOR30S convection hood combination and the newer DMO30U970S slim hood combination, and the DCM24S convection and DMW2420S countertop models that also take a trim kit for built-in use. The slim hood model has a manual and a code table of its own, unlike the rest of the lineup.

The Dacor lineup

What is particular
to Dacor.

We service the DMR24M977 and DMR30M977 Microwave-In-A-Drawer, the PCOR30S convection and DMO30U970S slim hood combinations, and the DCM24S and DMW2420S countertop models, including trim-kit installs. The slim hood model is the one with an information code table, so we note its model number before the visit.

The drawer can lock open or shut

A three-second press on Control Lock freezes the Microwave-In-A-Drawer's keys and its automatic mechanism in whatever position it is in, open or closed. A drawer that will not move is checked for LOCK ON before the motor is suspected.

The slim hood model reports C codes

The DMO30U970S shows information codes such as C-10 for its gas sensor and C-F2 for a key problem, and it moves up to 550 CFM. The other Dacor microwaves speak in words like ERROR and WELCOME instead, so the model decides how we read the display.

Countertop models that go built-in

Dacor designs the DCM24S and DMW2420S to stand alone or to be built in with a matching trim kit. We check the trim kit's air path whenever one of these trips its thermal protection in a cabinet.

Sensor cooking decides the time

Dacor's drawer and hood models read the humidity inside the cavity and set cooking time and power from it. When sensor programs undercook or end with ERROR while timed cooking works, the humidity sensor is our first suspect.

Parts

Parts are ordered by the model and serial number on the rating label, which on the drawer is seen with the drawer fully open. Drawer mechanisms and the slim model's control boards are the slower parts to source; filters and lamps are routine.

Repair or replace

Drawer units fill a flush cutout and are generally worth repairing. A countertop model with a failed magnetron and control together is where replacement is a fair comparison.

Questions about
Dacor microwaves.

My Dacor slim microwave hood combination shows C-F2. Is it serious?
Dacor's first step is to touch STOP and try the button again. If the code keeps returning, the key panel needs testing on a visit.
Why won't my Dacor Microwave-In-A-Drawer open?
Check the display for LOCK ON, which holds the drawer in place, and the breaker. The manual asks you not to force the drawer by hand except in an emergency, so book a visit if the panel will not move it.
Can the Dacor DCM24S go in a wall cabinet?
Yes. Dacor designs it to stand alone or be built in with its trim kit. The trim kit keeps the air path the unit needs.
Which Dacor microwaves vent the cooking surface below them?
The PCOR30S at 300 CFM and the DMO30U970S slim model at 550 CFM. Both can recirculate or vent outside.
