actually means.
Gaggenau does not list what each number means. On the Expressive series GM models you confirm the message on the display; on the older BMP 250/251 you turn the selector to 0. If the message goes away, Gaggenau treats it as a single event. If it stays or keeps returning, the number is passed to service.

The electronics that read the keys and run the cycle have flagged a problem with themselves: a key that the control sees as held down for too long, a membrane keypad worn through or swollen by steam, a lost link between the keypad and the board, or a board that failed its own check after a surge. A breaker reset now and then clears a glitch; a stuck key or a code that comes straight back points to the keypad or the board.

On a GM model, confirm the message on the display; on a BMP model, turn the program selector to 0.
If the message clears, carry on and watch for it; if it stays or returns, book a visit and give the number.

Exx is not the same as E300 on the BMP models, which Gaggenau explains separately as a wiring or supply problem at first power-up. A display showing Initialization is also not an error.
