What F + number
actually means.

Fisher & Paykel does not publish what each F number means to owners. On the Series 7 and 9 touch-screen speed ovens the F code shows with a beep as a technical alert, and on the OM24NDB1 and OM30NPX1 the code is also stored in the event log in the system menu, where a technician can read the history.

What to do when F + number shows on the microwave

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Fisher & Paykel's own guidance for F + number on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Write the full code down, including every digit after the F.

02

Let the cooling fans stop and the oven cool completely before touching the power.

03

Switch the circuit off at the panel for a few seconds, then restore it.

04

Should the identical F code reappear, book a visit and quote its digits.

It usually turns into microwave control board and touchpad repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

An F code is not the same thing as the A1 or A5 overheat alerts, which clear after cooling. It is also not a lock or demo setting, so no menu option will make it go away if it keeps returning.

What you may
notice with it.

The microwave problems F + number tends to arrive with. Answer these at the microwave before anyone is booked.

Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. The Series 7 and 9 guide (OM24NDTDX1 family) lists F plus a number as a technical alert. The OM24NDB1 and OM30NPX1 guides write it as F__ in the troubleshooting table and keep a record under Event logs.

Questions
about F + number.

Can I clear F + number myself?
Write the full code down, including every digit after the F. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Where can I find the F code history on a Fisher & Paykel speed oven?
On the OM24NDB1 and OM30NPX1, the setup menu has an Event logs page that stores recorded errors and supply voltage readings. Having that list ready when you book saves time on the visit.
Is it safe to reset power when an F code shows?
Yes, once the oven has cooled and the fans have stopped. Cutting power while the oven is still hot is what the guide warns against.
Why does the F code disappear after a reset and come back days later?
A reset clears the alert, not the cause. A code that returns points at a part that fails under heat or load, such as a sensor, a fan or a board connection, and it is worth a visit before it stops the oven for good.

Still showing F + number?

Three details make the booking useful: the characters or beeps just as they appeared, every character of the model number, and whether a cup of water still warms up. With those, the technician arrives already halfway to the answer.
