What LOCK ON
actually means.
Every current Viking microwave can lock its panel against small hands. Depending on the model, the lock is set with Help and a number, with a long press on STOP/Clear, or with a Control Lock pad, and a touched pad brings up the lock word. On the DrawerMicro, the lock also holds the motorized drawer in place so it cannot open or close during cleaning.

What to do when LOCK ON shows on the microwaveKind of codeMode, not a failure
Something was switched on rather than something wearing out: a child or control lock set by a long press on the wrong pad, after which no key answers, a demo or showroom setting that lights the display and turns the plate while nothing warms, a Sabbath setting that dims the panel and mutes the beeps, or a clock left blinking after an outage that holds the keypad until it is set. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual switches it off again.
Usually leads toNo repair
On the RVM320 and RVMH330, touch Help and then STOP/Clear to cancel the lock.
Shows up asWhat a Microwave Error Code Is Telling You
A microwave error code may be a letter and a number on the display, a lock or demo word, a row of dashes, or a beep with a blinking clock, and it can show while the microwave still heats or block every key until it is cleared.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Viking's own guidance for LOCK ON on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
On the RVM320 and RVMH330, touch Help and then STOP/Clear to cancel the lock.
On the VMOD DrawerMicro, hold the Control Lock pad for 3 seconds until LOCK OFF shows; on the VMDD drop-down door, hold STOP/CLEAR for 3 seconds.
If the lock word disappears but the pads still do nothing, switch off the breaker for a minute, restore it and book a visit if the panel stays dead.
Cleared?
The code has gone and a mug of water heats again without a new part. If it comes back this week, or the food starts coming out cold in the middle, mention in the booking that it came back.
What not to do
The lock is not the two-step door release on the VMOC506 and VMOS501, which asks you to touch DOOR before pressing the push button while a cycle is running. It is not a touch panel failure either, as long as the lock word appears when a pad is pressed.
