What SLEEP MODE ON
actually means.

Wolf ships its drawer microwave in sleep mode. After roughly a quarter hour without use the clock goes dark, and any touch on the controls brings it back. Owners often take the dark panel for a dead microwave, when the drawer is simply saving its display.

What to do when SLEEP MODE ON shows on the microwave

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Wolf's own guidance for SLEEP MODE ON on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Touch any pad on the drawer; if the clock lights up, nothing is wrong.

02

To keep the clock on all the time, touch SETTINGS six times, then START, and look for SLEEP MODE OFF.

03

If no pad wakes the display, check the breaker for the drawer and book a visit if power is on.

Cleared?

The code has gone and a mug of water heats again without a new part. If it comes back this week, or the food starts coming out cold in the middle, mention in the booking that it came back.

What not to do

Sleep mode is not a loss of power, which would also stop the light and the OPEN/CLOSE pad from working. It is not the flashing display Wolf describes after a power outage either.

What you may
notice with it.

The microwave problems SLEEP MODE ON tends to arrive with. Answer these at the microwave before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Something was switched on rather than something wearing out: a child or control lock set by a long press on the wrong pad, after which no key answers, a demo or showroom setting that lights the display and turns the plate while nothing warms, a Sabbath setting that dims the panel and mutes the beeps, or a clock left blinking after an outage that holds the keypad until it is set. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual switches it off again.

In Wolf's own words

The microwave is shipped in sleep mode which disables the clock approximately 15 minutes after the oven is inactive.

Questions
about SLEEP MODE ON.

Can I clear SLEEP MODE ON myself?
Touch any pad on the drawer; if the clock lights up, nothing is wrong.
Why is the clock on my Wolf microwave drawer blank every morning?
The drawer arrives with sleep mode on, so the clock turns off after about 15 minutes idle. Touch a pad to wake it, or switch sleep mode off in SETTINGS.
Does sleep mode on a Wolf microwave drawer affect cooking?
No. It only affects the clock display while the drawer is idle, and cooking works the same.
My Wolf drawer stays dark even when I touch it. Is that sleep mode?
No. Sleep mode always wakes on a touch. A drawer that will not wake has a power or control problem and needs a visit.

Three details make the booking useful: the characters or beeps just as they appeared, every character of the model number, and whether a cup of water still warms up. With those, the technician arrives already halfway to the answer.
