Thermador DEMO ON: the MicroDrawer is set to demonstrate, not heat

Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 393-5858

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Thermador's own guidance for DEMO ON on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Press timer/settings eleven times in a row; the display asks DEMO OFF? TOUCH START.

02

Confirm with Start (+30 secs) and look for DEMO OFF.

03

Heat water for a minute to confirm; if it stays cold, book a visit.

Cleared?

The code has gone and a mug of water heats again without a new part. If it comes back this week, or the food starts coming out cold in the middle, mention in the booking that it came back.

What not to do

DEMO ON is not a failure of the high-voltage parts and needs no repair. Food that stays cold with Demo confirmed off is a different case for a technician.

What you may
notice with it.

The microwave problems DEMO ON tends to arrive with. Answer these at the microwave before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Something was switched on rather than something wearing out: a child or control lock set by a long press on the wrong pad, after which no key answers, a demo or showroom setting that lights the display and turns the plate while nothing warms, a Sabbath setting that dims the panel and mutes the beeps, or a clock left blinking after an outage that holds the keypad until it is set. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual switches it off again.

Questions
about DEMO ON.

Can I clear DEMO ON myself?
Press timer/settings eleven times in a row; the display asks DEMO OFF? TOUCH START.
My new Thermador MicroDrawer will not heat. Is Demo mode the reason?
It is the first thing Thermador asks you to check. Look for DEMO ON and switch it off.
How many presses switch off Thermador Demo mode?
Eleven presses of timer/settings, then Start.
Can Thermador Demo mode turn on by accident?
It takes eleven presses and a confirming hold, so it is uncommon, but a reset or a showroom unit can leave it on.

Still showing DEMO ON?

Three details make the booking useful: the characters or beeps just as they appeared, every character of the model number, and whether a cup of water still warms up. With those, the technician arrives already halfway to the answer.
