What E
actually means.

Thermador shows this on its microwaves and speed ovens when something has gone wrong inside that is not an owner fix. The number is a service reference; Thermador's own advice is to note it and switch the unit off at the fuse box or breaker.

What to do when E shows on the microwave

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Thermador's own guidance for E on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Photograph or write down the E-number exactly as shown.

02

Turn the unit off at the circuit breaker.

03

Book a visit and quote the number so the right parts can be checked before the trip.

Still there?

It usually turns into microwave control board and touchpad repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

The phone number that appears beside the code is part of the display, not a sign of a second problem. E11 is the one number Thermador treats separately, as a keypad issue.

What you may
notice with it.

The microwave problems E tends to arrive with. Answer these at the microwave before anyone is booked.

Questions
about E.

Can I clear E myself?
Photograph or write down the E-number exactly as shown. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Thermador show a phone number next to the error?
Thermador builds its support number into the error screen on these models. What matters to the repair is the E-number itself.
Can I clear a Thermador E-code with a reset?
Thermador's page asks you to disconnect power and get help, not to clear it. A single reset to rule out a glitch is fine; a repeat code needs service.
Does the E-code say which part of my Thermador speed oven failed?
Only through the number, which Thermador keeps for service use. That is why noting it before switching off matters.

Still showing E?

Three details make the booking useful: the characters or beeps just as they appeared, every character of the model number, and whether a cup of water still warms up. With those, the technician arrives already halfway to the answer.
