What LOCK ON
actually means.
Sharp's Control Lock is meant for cleaning and for households with small children. On the Microwave Drawer it deactivates the control panel and the automatic door mechanism together, so the drawer will not move from the OPEN/CLOSE pad while the lock is on.

What to do when LOCK ON shows on the microwaveKind of codeMode, not a failure
Something was switched on rather than something wearing out: a child or control lock set by a long press on the wrong pad, after which no key answers, a demo or showroom setting that lights the display and turns the plate while nothing warms, a Sabbath setting that dims the panel and mutes the beeps, or a clock left blinking after an outage that holds the keypad until it is set. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual switches it off again.
Usually leads toNo repair
Touch STOP/CLEAR and hold it for 3 seconds until the display shows LOCK OFF.
Shows up asWhat a Microwave Error Code Is Telling You
A microwave error code may be a letter and a number on the display, a lock or demo word, a row of dashes, or a beep with a blinking clock, and it can show while the microwave still heats or block every key until it is cleared.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Sharp's own guidance for LOCK ON on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Touch STOP/CLEAR and hold it for 3 seconds until the display shows LOCK OFF.
Try OPEN/CLOSE again.
If the display confirms LOCK OFF but the drawer still will not move, book a visit so the drawer drive can be checked.
Cleared?
The code has gone and a mug of water heats again without a new part. If it comes back this week, or the food starts coming out cold in the middle, mention in the booking that it came back.
What not to do
LOCK ON is not a jammed drawer or a failed motor. It is also not permanent: the Control Lock clears itself when power to the drawer is interrupted.
What you may
notice with it.
The microwave problems LOCK ON tends to arrive with. Answer these at the microwave before anyone is booked.
