What to do when PF shows on the microwave

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from KitchenAid's own guidance for PF on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Press Cancel (or Cancel/Off) to stop the blinking.

02

Set the clock again from the Clock or Setup/Clock key.

03

If the colon or PF keeps coming back with no outage in the house, have an electrician look at the outlet and circuit behind the microwave, then book a visit if the circuit is sound.

Still there?

It usually turns into microwave diagnostic visit. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

PF is not the same as a tripped breaker that keeps tripping; that is an urgent sign and the microwave should stay off until checked. It also does not mean the clock battery is weak, because the control has no battery.

What you may
notice with it.

The microwave problems PF tends to arrive with. Answer these at the microwave before anyone is booked.

Questions
about PF.

Can I clear PF myself?
Press Cancel (or Cancel/Off) to stop the blinking. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
My KitchenAid microwave shows PF every morning. Why?
The control is seeing short power drops, often overnight. A loose outlet or a shared circuit is more likely than a bad control, so have the circuit checked first.
Do I lose my settings when a KitchenAid shows PF?
The clock has to be set again and a cycle that was running is canceled. Settings such as sound or the fan timer may need a look too.
Can I cook while the KitchenAid colon is blinking?
Press Cancel first to clear it. After that the microwave works as normal; setting the clock is only needed for the time display.

Three details make the booking useful: the characters or beeps just as they appeared, every character of the model number, and whether a cup of water still warms up. With those, the technician arrives already halfway to the answer.
