What F2H1
actually means.

Some KitchenAid hood combinations put the vent fan and cooking-surface light controls on a separate switch at the lower left of the front panel. F2H1 means the control has lost sense of that switch or its wires, so the fan or light may run on its own or not respond.

What to do when F2H1 shows on the microwave

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from KitchenAid's own guidance for F2H1 on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Switch the microwave off at the breaker for one full minute, then switch it back on.

02

Leave it idle for a minute and watch the display; if the code does not return, run a short test cycle.

03

Check that grease has not built up around the fan and light switch at the lower left corner of the front.

04

If F2H1 comes back or the fan will not stop, book a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into microwave vent fan and filter repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

F2H1 does not mean the fan motor itself has burned out, though the symptom can look the same. It also does not affect heating directly; a microwave showing it may still heat food.

What you may
notice with it.

Questions
about F2H1.

Can I clear F2H1 myself?
Switch the microwave off at the breaker for one full minute, then switch it back on. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
My KitchenAid vent fan will not turn off and shows F2H1. What should I do?
Cut power at the breaker for sixty seconds, then restore it. If the fan starts again on its own, leave the breaker off and book a visit, because the switch is sending a constant signal.
Is F2H1 on a KitchenAid about the fan motor?
It names the fan and light switch, not the motor. The switch is the first thing tested.
Can grease cause F2H1?
Grease around the switch on the lower front edge can make contacts stick. Keep that area wiped, but do not take the panel apart.
