What F2
actually means.

JennAir's hood combinations carry a separate touch keypad wired to the main control. F2 comes up when that keypad reports trouble, which usually traces back to moisture behind the membrane, a key worn through or a loose ribbon connection.

What to do when F2 shows on the microwave

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from JennAir's own guidance for F2 on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the microwave off at the circuit breaker, count a full minute, then restore power.

02

Give it a minute on standby; a code that does not reappear was likely a one-time glitch, so run a short cycle to confirm.

03

Run the vent fan while cooking below so steam does not settle on the panel.

04

If F2 comes back, book a visit to have the keypad and its cable tested.

Still there?

It usually turns into microwave control board and touchpad repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

F2 is a panel code, not a sign the magnetron or the door has failed. If LOC or a padlock is lit, the panel is locked rather than broken.

What you may
notice with it.

The microwave problems F2 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the microwave before anyone is booked.

Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. From JennAir's help pages for its microwave hood combinations (Euro-style, including the convection models). The code set varies with the control generation, so a code missing from your model's manual may not apply to it.

Questions
about F2.

Can I clear F2 myself?
Turn the microwave off at the circuit breaker, count a full minute, then restore power. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What is the usual repair for F2 on a JennAir?
A keypad membrane or its connection to the board. The connector is checked first because reseating it can be enough.
Does F2 on a JennAir mean the same as E03?
Both describe the keypad reporting trouble to the control; they come from different control generations.
Could boiling water below my JennAir trigger F2?
Rising steam can collect on the panel and make keys misread. Keep the vent running and dry the panel if it fogs.

Three details make the booking useful: the characters or beeps just as they appeared, every character of the model number, and whether a cup of water still warms up. With those, the technician arrives already halfway to the answer.
