Dacor's countertop and drawer microwaves include a demonstration setting for showrooms. Cooking operations can be shown on the display, but the magnetron stays off, so a unit delivered or left in that state never warms food.

On the DMW2420S, touch TIMER/CLOCK, the number 0 and STOP/CLEAR, or unplug it from the outlet and plug it back in.

On the Microwave-In-A-Drawer, touch SETUP/HELP five times until DEMO OFF ? TOUCH START appears, then touch START/EASY MINUTE.

Heat a cup of water for a minute; if it stays cold with no DEMO on the display, book a visit.

Cleared?

The code has gone and a mug of water heats again without a new part. If it comes back this week, or the food starts coming out cold in the middle, mention in the booking that it came back.

DEMO ON is not a burned-out magnetron or blown fuse. Once demo is off, a microwave that still does not heat has a separate problem worth a visit.

The sequence uses TIMER/CLOCK, 0 and a three-second hold on START, which can happen by accident while setting the clock.
Will demo mode damage my Dacor microwave?
No. It only disables heating. Turn it off and the unit cooks as normal.
