What E23
actually means.

JennAir's convection hood models heat the cavity with an element and fan before baking. If half an hour passes and the target is still not reached, the control gives up with E23 and points at the heater, the control board or the wiring between them.

What to do when E23 shows on the microwave

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from JennAir's own guidance for E23 on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the microwave off at the circuit breaker, count a full minute, then restore power.

02

Give it a minute on standby; a code that does not reappear was likely a one-time glitch, so run a short cycle to confirm.

03

Test microwave heating separately with a cup of water; it uses different parts.

04

If preheat fails again, book a visit to test the convection heater.

It usually turns into microwave magnetron repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E23 is about too little convection heat, not about the magnetron. Opening the door briefly during preheat does not cause it.

What you may
notice with it.

Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. From JennAir's help pages for its microwave hood combinations (Euro-style, including the convection models). The code set varies with the control generation, so a code missing from your model's manual may not apply to it. E23 applies only to models with convection.

about E23.

Can I clear E23 myself?
Turn the microwave off at the circuit breaker, count a full minute, then restore power. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can I keep microwaving with E23 on my JennAir?
If a cup of water heats on microwave power, yes. E23 concerns the convection heater.

Thirty minutes. A normal preheat finishes well inside that.
What part usually fixes E23 on a JennAir?
The convection heater is the first suspect, with the board and wiring checked alongside it.

Three details make the booking useful: the characters or beeps just as they appeared, every character of the model number, and whether a cup of water still warms up. With those, the technician arrives already halfway to the answer.
