Viking's microwaves have a demonstration mode for showrooms. Timers run and count down quickly to END, but the magnetron and heating elements stay off. On the DrawerMicro the manual states outright that the drawer does not heat in Demo Mode. Viking microwave display · also shown as DEMO, DEMO ON?, DEMO OFF, DEMO ON DURING DEMO NO OVEN POWER What to do when DEMO ON shows on the microwave ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure Something was switched on rather than something wearing out: a child or control lock set by a long press on the wrong pad, after which no key answers, a demo or showroom setting that lights the display and turns the plate while nothing warms, a Sabbath setting that dims the panel and mutes the beeps, or a clock left blinking after an outage that holds the keypad until it is set. Each step comes from Viking's own guidance for DEMO ON on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 On the RVM320, touch Timer/Clock, the number 0 and STOP/Clear, or simply unplug the microwave and plug it back in. 02 On the VMOD DrawerMicro, touch Setup/Help five times, then Start/Add-A-Minute, and look for DEMO OFF. 03 Heat a cup of water for a minute to confirm heat has returned, and book a visit if it has not. ### Cleared? The code has gone and a mug of water heats again without a new part. If it comes back this week, or the food starts coming out cold in the middle, mention in the booking that it came back. ### What not to do DEMO ON is not a failed magnetron or a blown fuse, even though the food comes out cold. On the RVM320, touch Timer/Clock, the number 0 and STOP/Clear, or simply unplug the microwave and plug it back in. ### Why does my new Viking microwave count down so fast and not heat? That is demonstration mode. The countdown runs quickly to END with no power in the cavity, and turning demo off restores normal cooking. ### Does unplugging a Viking microwave cancel DEMO mode? The RVM320 manual says unplugging and plugging back in cancels it. On built-in drawers where the plug is hard to reach, use the Setup/Help sequence instead. ### My Viking VMODC drawer shows DEMO ON? with a question mark. Is it already in demo? The question mark is the prompt before you confirm.
