Thermador's microwaves and speed ovens use touch buttons that can be fooled by moisture. When the control sees presses that make no sense, it shows E11 with the support number and waits for the panel to be dried and the power cycled. Thermador microwave display What to do when E11 shows on the microwave ### Kind of code Control board and touchpad The electronics that read the keys and run the cycle have flagged a problem with themselves: a key that the control sees as held down for too long, a membrane keypad worn through or swollen by steam, a lost link between the keypad and the board, or a board that failed its own check after a surge. A breaker reset now and then clears a glitch; a stuck key or a code that comes straight back points to the keypad or the board. ### Usually leads to Microwave control board and touchpad repair Tracing a dead display, keys that do not answer or a code that keeps returning to the keypad, the ribbon, the relays or the main board, and replacing only the part that failed. ### Shows up as What a Microwave Error Code Is Telling You A microwave error code may be a letter and a number on the display, a lock or demo word, a row of dashes, or a beep with a blinking clock, and it can show while the microwave still heats or block every key until it is cleared. ### Make Thermador Thermador microwaves diagnosed in place, from a drawer that will not glide open to a built-in unit that runs with no heat. ### Source Thermador Microwaves & Speed Ovens - Error Codes support page From Thermador's error code page for microwaves and speed ovens. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Thermador's own guidance for E11 on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Wipe the control panel dry with a soft, dry cloth. 02 Turn the breaker off, wait roughly ten seconds, then turn it on again. 03 Run the vent or open a window if the kitchen is steamy, and give the panel a few minutes. 04 If E11 returns on a dry panel, book a visit for the touch control. ### Still there? It usually turns into [microwave control board and touchpad repair](https://microwaverepair.center/services/microwave-control-board-and-touchpad-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do E11 is not a reason to suspect the magnetron or the door interlocks. If a padlock or LOCK ON is showing instead, the buttons are locked and no part is needed. ## What you may notice with it. The microwave problems E11 tends to arrive with. Wipe the control panel dry with a soft, dry cloth. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why does E11 appear on my Thermador speed oven after steaming vegetables? Steam can condense on the touch panel. Dry it and cycle the power for about ten seconds. ### Is E11 on a Thermador covered by a simple reset? Often, yes. Thermador's own steps are to dry the panel and restart power; only a repeat on a dry panel needs service. ### Does E11 affect the Thermador MicroDrawer too? Thermador's code page covers its microwaves and speed ovens as a group. If your drawer shows E11, follow the same drying and reset steps. --- **[Read on the site: Thermador E11: the microwave's touch buttons are not responding correctly](https://microwaverepair.center/error-codes/thermador-e11/)** **[Book a visit with MicrowaveRepair.center](https://microwaverepair.center/schedule/)**
