If a cycle runs far longer than normal, perhaps because it was never switched off, the safety shut-off ends it and shows the message until you confirm. Miele microwave display What to do when Maximum operating duration reached shows on the microwave ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure Something was switched on rather than something wearing out: a child or control lock set by a long press on the wrong pad, after which no key answers, a demo or showroom setting that lights the display and turns the plate while nothing warms, a Sabbath setting that dims the panel and mutes the beeps, or a clock left blinking after an outage that holds the keypad until it is set. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual switches it off again. ### Usually leads to No repair Confirm the message with OK. ### Shows up as What a Microwave Error Code Is Telling You A microwave error code may be a letter and a number on the display, a lock or demo word, a row of dashes, or a beep with a blinking clock, and it can show while the microwave still heats or block every key until it is cleared. ### Make Miele Miele microwaves and speed units checked at eye level in your kitchen, starting from the message on the display and the mode in use. ### Source Miele speed oven operating and installation instructions (H 7840 BM, H 7770 BM, H 7870 BM) Miele H 7840 BM, H 7770 BM and H 7870 BM speed ovens. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Miele's own guidance for Maximum operating duration reached on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Confirm the message with OK. 02 Check what was in the cavity and whether a timer or program was left running. 03 If the message appears during an ordinary, short cooking process, book a visit to check the controls. ### Cleared? If it comes back this week, or the food starts coming out cold in the middle, mention in the booking that it came back. ### What not to do The message does not report overheating or a damaged part.
