Older controls show dOn and dOff when the mode is changed. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Look for the Demo icon or a d in the display. 02 On newer hood models, touch Setup/Clock, go to the Demo Mode submenu and follow the prompts to switch it off. 03 On older models, open the door, hold the 3 key for 5 seconds, then press Start within 5 seconds; dOff confirms it. 04 Heat a cup of water for a minute; if it is still cold with Demo off, book a visit. ### Cleared? The code has gone and a mug of water heats again without a new part. If it comes back this week, or the food starts coming out cold in the middle, mention in the booking that it came back. ### What not to do A cold plate with the Demo icon lit is not a magnetron or diode problem. A cold plate with no Demo icon is, and that one needs a technician because the high-voltage parts are never serviced by an owner. ## What you may notice with it. Look for the Demo icon or a d in the display. ### My KitchenAid microwave runs but the food stays cold. Could it be Demo mode? Yes, that is exactly how Demo mode behaves: light on, fan running, timer counting, no heat. Check the display for the Demo icon before booking a repair. ### How did Demo mode get turned on in my KitchenAid? Sometimes the unit leaves the showroom that way, and on older controls a long press on the 3 key with the door open starts the sequence.
