Gaggenau's Expressive combi-microwave ends a running mode on its own if more than 12 hours pass with no operation. It is a guard against a forgotten appliance, and it is cleared by confirming the message and switching the unit off. Gaggenau microwave display What to do when Safety switch-off shows on the microwave ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure Something was switched on rather than something wearing out: a child or control lock set by a long press on the wrong pad, after which no key answers, a demo or showroom setting that lights the display and turns the plate while nothing warms, a Sabbath setting that dims the panel and mutes the beeps, or a clock left blinking after an outage that holds the keypad until it is set. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual switches it off again. ### Usually leads to No repair Press the confirm key to acknowledge the message. ### Shows up as What a Microwave Error Code Is Telling You A microwave error code may be a letter and a number on the display, a lock or demo word, a row of dashes, or a beep with a blinking clock, and it can show while the microwave still heats or block every key until it is cleared. ### Make Gaggenau Gaggenau microwaves and combination units examined on site, beginning with the mode that was chosen when the problem first showed up. ### Source Gaggenau GM450/451 720 built-in microwave Use and Care Manual (Expressive series) Expressive series GM450/451 720 (manual 9001954868). ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Gaggenau's own guidance for Safety switch-off on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Press the confirm key to acknowledge the message. 02 Switch the appliance off, then start again if you still need it. 03 If it switches itself off well before 12 hours, book a visit. ### Cleared? The code has gone and a mug of water heats again without a new part. If it comes back this week, or the food starts coming out cold in the middle, mention in the booking that it came back. ### What not to do An automatic shut-off after 12 idle hours is intended behavior, not a failure. A unit that cuts out after a few minutes is a different problem, often heat-related, and needs a technician. ## What you may notice with it.
