The Expressive series shows Initialization the first time it is switched on after connection, if that setup was not completed, after a factory reset, or after demo mode set during start-up has been switched off. The unit expects language, units, time format and the time before normal use. Gaggenau microwave display What to do when Initialization shows on the microwave ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure Something was switched on rather than something wearing out: a child or control lock set by a long press on the wrong pad, after which no key answers, a demo or showroom setting that lights the display and turns the plate while nothing warms, a Sabbath setting that dims the panel and mutes the beeps, or a clock left blinking after an outage that holds the keypad until it is set. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual switches it off again. ### Usually leads to No repair Work through the initial settings on the display: language, Home Connect, temperature and weight units, time format and time. ### Shows up as What a Microwave Error Code Is Telling You A microwave error code may be a letter and a number on the display, a lock or demo word, a row of dashes, or a beep with a blinking clock, and it can show while the microwave still heats or block every key until it is cleared. ### Make Gaggenau Gaggenau microwaves and combination units examined on site, beginning with the mode that was chosen when the problem first showed up. ### Source Gaggenau GM450/451 720 built-in microwave Use and Care Manual (Expressive series) Expressive series GM450/451 720 (manual 9001954868). ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Gaggenau's own guidance for Initialization on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Work through the initial settings on the display: language, Home Connect, temperature and weight units, time format and time. 02 Finish every step; leaving the setup partway brings the screen back. 03 If Initialization reappears after a completed setup with no factory reset, book a visit. ### Cleared? The code has gone and a mug of water heats again without a new part. If it comes back this week, or the food starts coming out cold in the middle, mention in the booking that it came back. ### What not to do Initialization is not an error and does not mean memory has failed. It is expected after a factory reset or after leaving demo mode. ## What you may notice with it. The microwave problems Initialization tends to arrive with. Work through the initial settings on the display: language, Home Connect, temperature and weight units, time format and time. ### Why is my Gaggenau asking for setup again? Initialization returns after a factory reset, an unfinished first setup or leaving demo mode. ### Do I have to connect Home Connect to finish Gaggenau Initialization? Home Connect is one of the setup steps listed; follow the prompts, and the manual walks through each one. ### Is it a concern if my Gaggenau shows Initialization every time power returns? That is not expected after a completed setup. Book a visit if it keeps happening. --- **[Read on the site: Gaggenau Initialization on the display: first-time setup was not finished](https://microwaverepair.center/error-codes/gaggenau-initialization/)** **[Book a visit with MicrowaveRepair.center](https://microwaverepair.center/schedule/)**
