Demo mode lets a Gaggenau combi-microwave show every function on a showroom floor without producing heat. To leave it, you briefly cut power at the breaker and then switch demo mode off in the basic settings within three minutes of power returning. Gaggenau microwave display What to do when Demo mode shows on the microwave ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure Something was switched on rather than something wearing out: a child or control lock set by a long press on the wrong pad, after which no key answers, a demo or showroom setting that lights the display and turns the plate while nothing warms, a Sabbath setting that dims the panel and mutes the beeps, or a clock left blinking after an outage that holds the keypad until it is set. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual switches it off again. ### Usually leads to No repair Switch off the household breaker for a moment, then switch it back on. ### Shows up as What a Microwave Error Code Is Telling You A microwave error code may be a letter and a number on the display, a lock or demo word, a row of dashes, or a beep with a blinking clock, and it can show while the microwave still heats or block every key until it is cleared. ### Make Gaggenau Gaggenau microwaves and combination units examined on site, beginning with the mode that was chosen when the problem first showed up. ### Source Gaggenau GM450/451 720 built-in microwave Use and Care Manual (Expressive series) Expressive series GM450/451 720 (manual 9001954868); the BMP 250/251 manual describes the same mode and the same 3-minute window. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Gaggenau's own guidance for Demo mode on its microwaves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Switch off the household breaker for a moment, then switch it back on. 02 Within 3 minutes, open the basic settings and set demo mode to off. 03 If the display then shows Initialization, complete the initial start-up. 04 If the unit still does not heat with demo mode off, book a visit. ### Cleared? The code has gone and a mug of water heats again without a new part. If it comes back this week, or the food starts coming out cold in the middle, mention in the booking that it came back. ### What not to do The demo symbol is not a failed magnetron or heating element. Missing the three-minute window just means repeating the breaker step. ## What you may notice with it. The microwave problems Demo mode tends to arrive with. Switch off the household breaker for a moment, then switch it back on. ### Why does my Gaggenau combi-microwave light up but stay cold? Look for the demo mode symbol. In demo mode it will not heat. ### Why does Gaggenau make me cut the power to leave demo mode? The setting can only be changed in the first three minutes after power returns, which stops it being switched by accident. ### My Gaggenau showed Initialization after I switched off demo mode. Is that normal? Yes. Gaggenau notes that turning demo mode off after it was set during start-up sends the unit back to initial setup. --- **[Read on the site: Gaggenau demo mode symbol: the combi-microwave will not heat](https://microwaverepair.center/error-codes/gaggenau-demo-mode/)** **[Book a visit with MicrowaveRepair.center](https://microwaverepair.center/schedule/)**
